“Don't you think that's the beauty of a book? It can take you places you can't visit on your own, lets you meet people and see things you can't in real life。” Cue the sighs for best quote of the book, right?! I absolutely loved this absolutely charming novel, and hope to see more from the characters of Dove Pond! I am SO thankful to have gotten to read an excerpt from bookishfirst, and then receive an advance copy of The Book Charmer thanks to Netgalley! It was nothing but pleasant with well thought out characters after my own heart, full of personalities with relatable issues & a bit of magic we all need! In my opinion any book lover will instantly fall for this one, and the main character and Dove Pond resident librarian, Sarah。

This is the story of Sarah Dove and her family。 Sarah always had a way with books。 When she was young, she visited the library and a book spoke to her。 Actually spoke。 She grows up to be the town librarian, handing out books based on who needs to read them。 The books tell her that they are to help a certain person, and Sarah lends them the book。 The towns people come to rely on Sarah and her way of knowing exactly what they need and never turn down a book they get from her。One day Grace and her This is the story of Sarah Dove and her family。 Sarah always had a way with books。 When she was young, she visited the library and a book spoke to her。 Actually spoke。 She grows up to be the town librarian, handing out books based on who needs to read them。 The books tell her that they are to help a certain person, and Sarah lends them the book。 The towns people come to rely on Sarah and her way of knowing exactly what they need and never turn down a book they get from her。One day Grace and her small family show up in Sarah's town。 Grace is in charge of her young niece and her mother who has fast progressing dementia。 She is looking for a calmer job and life so that she will have the time she needs to look after her family。 Sarah quickly latches onto Grace and feels that Grace was sent to the town for a reason。 Grace isn't so sure and doesn't plan to stay in town long。 Sarah and her group of friends will do everything in their power to change that。This is a sweet story。 I have been working for hours on end at our house and so this was a great audio book to pass the time。 It is a sweet story and the characters are all very likable。 I was drawn into the story of Grace and her past and Sarah and her small town。 It is a story of friendship, love, and trials in a well written book。 I didn't love the ending only because it wrapped up so quickly! I wish they would have taken the story just a little further。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this book set in the whimsical small town of Dove Pond。 The Dove sisters all have some magic in them and Sarah's ability to hear books was interesting。 I enjoyed seeing how different people in the town accepted her ability。 Grace was an interesting character and I enjoyed her growth through the novel, I felt like the way she dealt with her suddenly being thrust into the roles of a caretaker and a mother was very honest and real。 I look forward to reading the other books in the I really enjoyed this book set in the whimsical small town of Dove Pond。 The Dove sisters all have some magic in them and Sarah's ability to hear books was interesting。 I enjoyed seeing how different people in the town accepted her ability。 Grace was an interesting character and I enjoyed her growth through the novel, I felt like the way she dealt with her suddenly being thrust into the roles of a caretaker and a mother was very honest and real。 I look forward to reading the other books in the series。 。。。more

Hmm。。。。 this one was a bit of a mixed bag for me。 One of those times when the charm of the cover exceeded the charm of the story。 There were moments that caught me, heart and soul, yet other parts that I almost wanted to skip through but plodded on anyway。 The end was predictable, as was most of the plot。

Perfect cozy book for when Im in tired teacher mode。 I really loved the small town of Dove Pond and Sarahs book talking ability。 Grace was a really good character along with Trav and Mama G。 Now Im still left wondering about what happened with Sarah and Blake? Plus, Ava needs a little more story! A good book and quick read。 Full of wisdom, love, and power of friends。 The Book Charmer was on a recommended read list & though having books speak to you is somewhat bizarre and almost stopped me from reading, it does play a role in the story。 I loved several quotes from the book about a small town and how everyone comes together to make things happen。 Love cant cure a broken heart, but it can hold the two sides together while they heal。After a difficult childhood in foster care, Grace A good book and quick read。 Full of wisdom, love, and power of friends。 “ The Book Charmer” was on a recommended read list & though having books “speak to you” is somewhat bizarre and almost stopped me from reading, it does play a role in the story。 I loved several quotes from the book about a small town and how everyone comes together to make things happen。 “Love can’t cure a broken heart, but it can hold the two sides together while they heal。”After a difficult childhood in foster care, Grace finds home with a special lady that shows her what family is all about。 And after moving back to their small town, Mama G shares her bits of wisdom in between her struggles with Alzheimer’s。 “It’s sad, but life is not fair。 I sometimes think it was never supposed to be。 Life is made up of moments, good and bad。 But while you don’t get to pick all the moments, you do get to pick which ones you cling to。” 。。。more

I really liked this book! Its not entirely what I was expecting, but I liked that。 I love Sarah and the way she loves her town。 And Travis。。。 my goodness。 And Grace, Daisy, Mama G。 (Even if Grace annoyed me at first a little, it was understandable and she grew out of it eventually)。 Cant wait for the second book to come out。 I want to see if anything will ever happen with Blake。 And if something else is going to happen that requires Sarahs help to keep her Dove Pond going strong。 I really liked this book! Sweet book about a small town, Dove Pond, that is struggling。 Grace Wheeler moves her family there and they are also struggling。 Her niece, Daisy, recently lost her mother and Graces foster mom, Mama G, has Alzheimers。 The town embraces them and as they meet new friends they fall in love with the town and the special people who live there。 The book deals with some tough issues, but is mostly about friendship, books, and people coming together to help each other。 Sweet book about a small town, Dove Pond, that is struggling。 Grace Wheeler moves her family there and they are also struggling。 Her niece, Daisy, recently lost her mother and Grace’s foster mom, Mama G, has Alzheimer’s。 The town embraces them and as they meet new friends they fall in love with the town and the special people who live there。 The book deals with some tough issues, but is mostly about friendship, books, and people coming together to help each other。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This was a really cute, feel-good book。 I gave it four stars, though, because the longer descriptions were definitely more telling than showing, and the last chapter was a little bit lazily written。 The last chapter was comprised of two pages that were just a quick summary of subsequent events, which was very disappointing。 Also, the festival was supposedly epic, but there were maybe five pages written as it took place? This was my first book by this author, so I was a little wary, but the synopsis sounded cute。 I'm so glad I blazed ahead! I enjoyed this book immensely。 The setting and characters had me hooked from the minute we met Grace and Mama G。 Trav and Sarah were just the icing on the cake。 And the town itself was so lovely! Check out this premise: You are a librarian and books speak to you and tell you who needs to read them。 Is that amazingly cool or what?!? I just loved the idea of books speaking to someone and knowing who needs to read them and when。 This book isn't going to prompt people to march for World Peace, but it was a very enjoyable read。 The librarian mentioned is the 7th of 7 sisters in a family with a history of having "special gifts。" There are a lot of entertaining characters in the book and it all Check out this premise: You are a librarian and books speak to you and tell you who needs to read them。 Is that amazingly cool or what?!? A very cozy book through and through。Sipping on a cup of tea while listening to this audiobook was just a wonderful experience。This book made me laugh, cry, feel all warm and love for my own family and much more。Maybe a bit predictable at times, but I didn't mind as I usually do with "too predictable stories"。It's a real feel-good book。 I really recommend it。

Heartwarming, quiet, deep。 I enjoyed the change of pace this book brought to my reading - slow but steady like a Sunday stroll。 Quirky small-town residents, magical realism, and a very realistic portrayal of the experience of caregiving for a loved one with dementia/Alzheimer's。 The friendship between Sarah and Grace was lovely and I enjoyed Grace's character arc。

I chose this book purely based on it's cover (who can really blame me?!) and it was as darling as I thought it would be! Nothing shocking or dark or dirty but an enchanting, little tale about a girl turned woman who can hear from books。 She lives in a small, struggling town that needs help and when the prodigal daughter turned financial guru returns to help her early onset Alzheimer's mother have a few, happy, last memories in her own home, it solves everything, naturally! I liked this book a lot, though I didnt care for the character of Grace。 I understand why her character is the way she is but she just was not a likeable person。 The other characters saved the story。 I do wish there had been some real romance, not just the smallest, most teensy-weensy hint of it。 Rating of 3。5 rounded up to 4。 I liked this book a lot, though I didn’t care for the character of Grace。 I understand why her character is the way she is but she just was not a likeable person。 The other characters saved the story。 I do wish there had been some real romance, not just the smallest, most teensy-weensy hint of it。 Rating of 3。5 rounded up to 4。 。。。more
